My kids will have to take the top of my list. I’m the mother of two beautiful little versions of my husband and myself. Aside from being a proud mother, I’m also proud to have accomplished my educational goals and to have made travel a significant part of my life; both through my education with study abroad experiences in high school and in college, as well as for personal exploration.
When I was in my undergrad program, I enjoyed reading, Visionaries and Outcasts: The NEA, Congress, and the Place of the Visual Artist in America by Michael Brenson.
I’m double jointed but only the toes of my right foot; and I used to be able to do a weird trick with the cartilage of my nose but that ended when I fell on my face on a backpacking trip on Isle Royale National Park. That fall also earned me the nickname of, ”Surefoot”. Should I be telling people these things? Seriously though, I love to travel. I was an exchange student my senior year of high school and I treasure the impact that experience had on my life.
My latest travel obsession has been the idea of two archipelagos, one in northern Norway --the Lofoten Islands and the other is the Faroe Islands, between Iceland and Norway.
I love that I have the opportunity to work with creative individuals on a daily basis.
Oh, I'd definitely flee but would be prepared to fight. My husband loves the television show, The Walking Dead so I am sure he already has something mentally prepared for this type of situation.
I love this city and all the "secrets" I have discovered in the years I have lived here. I think the best kept secret about Grand Rapids is that there is always more to discover.
Favorite restaurants include: The Sovengard, Linear, Founders Brewing Company, and Creston Brewing Company.
Lake Michigan in the winter. The ice buildup on the lakeshore is an impressive landscape.
KCAD is special because of the community. Faculty and staff really care for our students and it shows.
Apply early and pay attention to scholarship opportunities. Many scholarships have deadlines that you will need to consider when planning your application.
On a daily basis, I'm using creativity to find ways to get a toddler to do what I want him to.
