Welcome to the Kendall Blog!

Posted September 29, 2010

We are announcing a new addition to the Kendall College of Art and Design web site. A blog. Yes, just like many in the rest of the world, we are entering the blogosphere with our own addition, designed to enhance and to add to the wealth of communication available about Kendall.

Why add this feature to the website? The reality is that blogging is irresistible. Only around for about 10 years, the blogosphere has grown to more than 80 million blogs from every part of the globe. Spurred by the access to the Internet, incredible technology and the innate need to communicate, a whole new world of communication is available to anyone with access to a computer.

Simply said, a blog (or weblog, as the term originated) is a special kind of website. A blog consists of entries or POSTS, arranged in reverse chronological order, meaning the most recent post appears at the top.

For many a blog is an online diary or journal. Others share information not available in traditional media. Blogs have become bottom-up channels for distributing news and other information. The millions and millions of blogs are part of what we call The New Media.

At Kendall we are continually reaching out to connect talented students to each other, to the faculty and to the professional world. While we are at it, we want the world to know about this special place. A blog is another way to do this.

The format is conversational and informal, not bound by conventions of news stories or anything traditional. Itâ??s a perfect fit for a college that encourages, celebrates and fosters creativity in its every day life and curriculum.

Our blog will change as the needs and interests of students, potential students, alumni and readers of the blog evolve. We hope a dialogue develops and that you will join us in the conversation.
