Riksen / Sabbatical Works

Riksen / Sabbatical Works Thursday, 02 September, 2021 @ All Day Location: KCAD Alluvium Gallery

Event Info

Sabbaticals give faculty time to conduct in-depth research and to incorporate up-to-date approaches to their teaching disciplines. KCAD values the work of its faculty and recognizes that leaves are essential for professors to develop new work, promote intellectual renewal, and sustain professional growth. The work in this show celebrates the Fall of 2020 sabbatical taken by Ron Riksen, Professor of Graphic Design.

Professor Riksen has been teaching for 50 years, and this is his first Sabbatical in 35 years.

During his Sabbatical, Riksen wanted to demonstrate his ability to work in more than one discipline and focused on paint and fine tip marker. He used non-traditional painting objects to apply the paint instead of traditional paintbrushes, and in total, created over 500 paintings and designs using many different techniques and styles.

Runs from August 24 through September 12, 2021

Reception: Thursday, September 2 from 4-6pm
