KCAD Student Council aims to amplify the student voice, enrich the campus community,
and advocate for initiatives that enhance the student experience. We achieve this
by facilitating open communication between students and administration, organizing

KCAD AIAS

The American Institute of Architecture Students (AIAS) is a student organization dedicated
to promoting excellence in architectural education, training, and practice; to foster
an appreciation of architecture and related disciplines; to enrich communities in
a spirit of collaboration; and to organize students and combine their efforts to advance
the art and science of architecture. AIAS is open to students of all majors within
KCAD and is constantly seeking collaboration and partnerships across all majors and
disciplines.

KCAD AIGA
Advisor: Jason Alger, Professor of Graphic Design and Program Chair
AIGA, the professional association for design, stimulates thinking about design, demonstrates
the value of design and empowers the success of designers at each stage of their careers.
AIGA's mission is to advance designing as a professional craft, strategic tool and
vital cultural force. Founded in 1914, AIGA remains the oldest and largest professional
membership organization for design, and is a nonprofit, 501(c)(3) educational institution.

BIPOC Association

The BIPOC (Black, Indigenous, People of Color) Association creates the opportunity
for BIPOC students to connect with each other and to participate in a variety of activities
and events as determined by the group.

Furniture Club
Advisor: Gayle DeBruyn, Assistant Professor of Furniture Design and Design Studies
The Furniture Club meets with the intention of informing its' members of annual events,
contests, and scholarships; acting as a resource for networking between the junior
and senior level students and those new to the program. On a basic level, we create
a collective of students with the same drive and interests.

Global Connection Club

The Global Connections Club is for international/culturally diverse students to help
them navigate the academic system, develop essential cultural skills, and successfully

Green Council

Green Council is focused on educating KCAD students, faculty and staff on improving
the impact we leave on the environment. The group plans events, attends lectures/seminars/conferences,

Huer Magazine
Advisor: Natalie Wetzel, Associate Professor, Foundations Program Co-Chair
Huer Magazine focuses on the promotion of our school culture and student work. Through
Huer, our team will learn how to work together to make a deadline, solve creative
problems, and ultimately publish two magazine issues each year that showcase KCAD's
unique creativity.

KCAD IIDA
Advisor: Lee Davis, Professor of Interior Design
The vision and mission of the International Interior Design Association stands for
the Future of Design. IIDA, with respect for past accomplishments of Interior Design
leaders, strives to create a strong niche for the most talented and visionary Interior
Design professionals, to elevate the profession to the level it warrants, and to lead
the way for the next generation of Interior Design innovators. The Association provides
a forum to demonstrate design professionals' impact on the health, safety, well-being
and virtual soul of the public, balancing passion for good design and strategy for
best business practices. IIDA stands at the intersection of passion and strategy where
designers create extraordinary interiors and experiences.

Illustration Club

Illustration
Our mission is to create an environment for exploring illustration, community and
education and to bring students together to serve as support and examples of Kendall
College of Art and Design.

KCAD IxDA

The KCAD Interaction Design Association (IxDA) wants to start an ongoing conversation
about the ever-evolving world of interaction design among students. We strive to create
opportunities to learn, collaborate, and apply this knowledge as early on in our education
as possible. Local and national speakers are brought in to lecture about their areas
of expertise every other week. Students of all majors are encouraged to attend and
participate in the exchange with professionals, and to utilize the networking opportunities.

Life Sciences and Pre-Medical Illustration Club

The Life Sciences and Pre-Medical Illustration Club is a student organization aimed
to connect students within the program. We strive to inform members of possible internships,
contests and events involving life sciences and medical illustration. We plan on hosting
critiques to get exposure and build a stronger portfolio on a professional level with
other KCAD students, faculty and professionals.

KCAD MangaKen

This club aims to provide the needed information and environment to help its members
create their own manga. Manga is a style of Japanese comic books and graphic novels.
Students will have the opportunity to share their experiences and knowledge to help
each other further build an understanding and appreciation for manga as an art form.
Whether you're a manga enthusiast or someone who wants to dive into the manga world
for the first time, KCAD MangaKen is for you!
