Printer Installation

NOTE: you will need to be on the KCAD network to search for printers.

Installation instructions for Mac

  1. Make sure you are connected to the internet

  2. Click the Apple button

  3. Click System Preferences

  4. In System Preferences go to Printers & Scanners

  5. Click the "+" symbol under the list of printers

  6. Click the IP tab

  7. In the address bar type the name of the printer followed by ".kcad.edu". For example Walsh.kcad.edu

  8. Check to ensure the "Use:" box fills with something other than "Generic"*

  9. Click Add

    * If the "Use:" box fills with generic you will need to manually select the print driver from the dropdown list. If the print driver is not available in the list you will need to download the driver from the manufacturer’s website. For assistance with this please visit the technical support office in room 404.


Installation instructions for Windows

  1. Make sure that you are connected to the internet
  2. Click the Start button
  3. Go to Devices and printers
  4. Click "Add a printer"
  5. Click "Add a network, wireless or Bluetooth printer"
  6. Click "The printer that I want isn't listed"
  7. Choose "Add a printer using a TCP/IP address or hostname"
  8. In the Hostname or IP address box type the name of the printer you would like installed followed by ".kcad.edu". For example Walsh.kcad.edu
  9. Click next
  10. If the "Use:" box fills with generic you will need to manually select the print driver from the dropdown list. If the print driver is not available in the list you will need to download the driver from the manufacturer’s website. For assistance with this please visit the technical support office in room 404.
