Material Use During a Pandemic
Material innovation has of late had to deal with an increasingly unpredictable world. From global heating to pollution to more extreme weather conditions, the world is forcing materials to be more adaptable. Add to this the now increased needs of resistance to viruses and the harsh cleaners often used to ensure a viral-free environment and it is clear that we need to be considering materials in a new way if we want them to perform in this new, more restrictive environment.
This presentation will review the new needs of materials-driven design for products, packaging and spaces, and also present innovations that are leading the way. It will also take into account how this new approach affects our continued need to ensure that our materials choices are promoting a more circular economy
