The Fashion of Public Grief: Victorian Mourning Clothes and Practices

February 23, 2017 5:30 pm – 6:30 pm
Location: Woodbridge N. Ferris Building, Room 217

The Fed Galleries @ KCAD invite you to a lecture by Dr. Sue Eberle about the Victorian Era and themes present in Sentimental Ornamentation, on display in The Fed Galleries. 19th century social practices allowed for an extended, public, visual display of mourning after the death of a loved one. Join us for this presentation about how clothing styles, colors, embellishments, fabrics, and accessories all helped the Victorian-era mourner through the sorrows of loss.

Individuals with disabilities who require special accommodations to participate should contact the KCAD President's Office at 616.451.2787 x1150 at least 72 hours in advance.
