“A friend encouraged me to check out KCAD, even though I wasn’t sure if I was ‘good enough.’ After touring the school, I was so excited about it that I couldn’t sleep that night. To be around so much creativity and art making felt like a dream come true. I could feel the energy that happens when people who love art come together in a creative community, and I knew I had to be a part of it. Daring to apply to KCAD was one of the best decisions I ever made.

KCAD instilled in me that a career in the arts wasn’t just possible, but powerful. I was thrilled when I saw that a studio for artists with disabilities was looking for someone with a BFA, a background in printmaking, and a sense of humor—it was a job I was 100% qualified for! I’m so proud to be able to make a living as a professional artist and to do unbelievably fulfilling work in the arts. I’ve found a career where I get to share my love for art and help people every day.”
