“In high school, my time as the yearbook photo editor helped me realize I wanted a career in sports photography. I chose KCAD because I wanted to pursue an art degree in a great city, and after my first full year, I knew I had made a great decision to attend. I wasn’t shy about letting my professors know that my goal was to work as a photographer for the National Hockey League (NHL), and they always encouraged me, but they also taught me the importance of work ethic in achieving your goals.

Now, to be working for the Grand Rapids Griffins—the minor league affiliate of my favorite NHL team, the Detroit Red Wings—is a dream come true. I’m one step closer to my dream job, and I love the challenge of thinking on the fly that comes with shooting a fast-paced sport like hockey.”
