SHELLEY STEVENS Professional Artist Director, Golden Apple Art Residency Harrington, ME ('04, MFA Painting)

“The graduate program at KCAD was an intense period of personal and professional growth for me. I learned that art is a combination of technical mastery and an understanding of how art and design function in the world, both historically and in today’s society. I came to understand art as a universal language, and that through imagery, one can communicate the verbally inexpressible.

I knew that an MFA would take me deeper into the world of art, opening up so many more creative employment opportunities and broadening my perception of what it means to be an artist. The sum total was one of the most valuable experiences of my life. Now, I am surrounded by creative individuals who fuel me.”
