ArtPrize Public Vote Propels KCAD and UICA Entries to Finalists’ Circle
The people have spoken, and two more entries with ties to Kendall College of Art and Design of Ferris State University (KCAD) are among the finalists of ArtPrize 2015.
Seungmo Park’s mesmerizing and ethereal wire mesh installation “MAYA 7624,” on display in The Fed Galleries @ KCAD, is a Public Finalist in the 3D category.
Over at Urban Institute for Contemporary Arts (UICA), Sara Dittrich’s and Benjamin Buchanan’s interactive multimedia entry “Symphony of Gestures” is a Public Finalist in the Time-Based category.
These two pieces join the other eight KCAD-affiliated entries that have been named to the Jurors’ Shortlist. The college also has ties to all five venues that have been nominated for ArtPrize 2015’s Best Venue award.
Voters now have one more opportunity to voice their opinions. Round 2 voting officially opened at 2:00 p.m. EST on October 4 and will run through October 8 at 11:59 p.m. EST. Individuals can cast up to twenty votes, one per finalist. The winners of both the public and juried awards totaling $500,000 will be announced at the Seventh Annual ArtPrize Awards on October 9.
Congratulations to these artists, and to all of those from the KCAD and UICA Community who competed this year, on an incredible display of talent!
