The fifth annual showcase of the College ??s fashion design talent, sponsored by the Bodies of Art (BoA) Fashion Club, will be held on Friday, March 19, 2010. The show is produced though a collaboration of Kendall students and faculty and is designed to put a twist on the average fashion show and make it something a bit more special.
BoA Fashion Club is a student organization established to showcase the work of Kendall students and faculty interested in fashion. Its primary goal is to be a resource to its peers. Members of the club, as well as the general student body, submit pieces to show. The theme for the 2010 fashion show is ??The Power of... ? It will feature a range of work including jewelry, apparel, and accessories. Participating students come from a wide variety of majors, including but not limited to: Metals/Jewelry, Illustration, Fine Arts, and Graphic Design. Attendees are encouraged to join in the celebration by dressing in the style of the theme ??flamboyant, crazy, and colorful!
The show will be held in the Brass Works Building located at 648 Monroe Ave, NW in Grand Rapids, MI. The reception begins at 6:00 pm and the show begins at 8:00 pm. Following the show there will be a party featuring student artwork, music and karaoke. Bodies of Art will also host an exhibition of more than a dozen two- and three-drawer small wooden chests that have been given individual and unique finishes. Teams of Kendall students from a wide variety of interest groups have completed these pieces in an event called C.A.S.E. ?? Cabinetry Arts Student Exhibition.
The exhibition highlights this student work of functional art. All chests will be available for purchase through an auction that evening. Proceeds from the auction will go to Kendall Student Clubs to support community-based, non-profit, charitable organizations for which the student groups are proud to provide volunteer efforts.
Tickets for the show can be purchased in advance in the Kendall Activities & Resource Center office on the first floor of the college, located at 17 Fountain Street NW, beginning March 9th, 2010. Advance tickets are $15.00, or $10.00 for students. Tickets can also be purchased at the door for $20.00 or $15.00 for students.
