Eye for Excellence: Painting Alum Tapped to Jury Group Exhibition in Pennsylvania
Kendall College of Art and Design of Ferris State University (KCAD) alumnus Ivan Fortushniak (’98, BFA Painting) recently served as the sole juror for the 2017 Spring Juried Exhibition of Allied Artists of Johnstown in Johnstown, Pa.
The annual exhibition solicits entries from emerging and professional artists from across three state counties. For 2017, Fortushniak had to whittle a field of 53 entries down to those that were ultimately included in the exhibition, and was also responsible for determining the winners of six awards.
Fortushniak’s own artwork has exhibited his nationally and internationally, including at the Third Biennial Art Exhibit of Paraguayan-American Art in Ascuncion Paraguay in 2003, and in a 2002 group exhibition in Havana, Cuba. In addition to his artistic practice, he is an assistant professor at Indiana University of Pennsylvania, where he teaches painting and drawing.
