Printmaking Alumna Erica Lang Stars in Merrell Social Media Video Erica Lang (’14, BFA Printmaking), owner of Grand Rapids printshop/retail store Woosah, was profiled in a social media video released by Merrell that explored her work at the intersection of entrepreneurship, creativity, and community.

Sculpture and Functional Art Student Emma Riley, Professor Bob Marsh, Collaborate with 13 On Your Side for Unique ArtPrize 10 Entry One of the more unusual ArtPrize 10 entries, "Floral Transmit" is the result of a collaboration between KCAD Sculpture and Functional Art student Emma Riley, Professor Bob Marsh, and 13 On Your Side that's transformed an area of the Gerald R. Ford Presidential Museum into a functional performance space the local news station will broadcast from throughout this year's event.

MFA alumna Brianna Lynn Hernandez Baurichter, KCAD’s UICA Named to ArtPrize 10 Jurors' Shortlists Brianna Lynn Hernandez Baurichter ('16, MFA) had her piece "Consequence" named to the ArtPrize 10 Jurors' Shortlist in the Time-Based category. The piece was hosted at Bend Gallery, owned and operated by KCAD alumni Madison May (’16, BFA Printmaking) and Gina Masterson (’16, BFA Illustration). KCAD’s Urban Institute for Contemporary Arts (UICA) was named to the Outstanding Venue shortlist for UICA Outside: Westside, which featured the mural “Anishinaabek” by artist Alan Compo, in the pedestrian tunnel below the Pearl St. bridge over the Grand River. Women's Lifestyle Magazine Highlights Collaboration Between KCAD Fashion Studies Program, Illustration Alumna/Adjunct Instructor Kelly Muschiana, Local Clothing Manufacturer Women's Lifestyle Magazine published a piece on local clothing manufacturer Public Thread that highlighted how the company's Product Development Lead, Kelly Muschiana, a KCAD alumna and current adjunct faculty member in the Fashion Studies Program, has been giving KCAD students opportunities to explore new design possibilities within the company's upcycling model that drastically reduces material waste.

Alumni Duo, Bandmates Tyler Newkirk and Matt Taylor Release Music Video  KCAD alumni Tyler Newkirk ('08, BFA Industrial Design) and Matt Taylor ('09, BFA Digital Media), members of local indie-rock band The Blue Pines recently collaborated on a music video for "If I Ever Started Missing You," the first single off the group's recently-released debut album.

KCAD Fashion Studies Program, Van Andel Arena, Team Up to Envision Elton John-Inspired Garments for Musician's Upcoming Grand Rapids Performance Van Andel Arena collaborated with KCAD's Pamela Roland DeVos School of Fashion to give 10 Fashion Studies students an opportunity to submit original garment designs inspired by the aesthetic legacy of Elton John that will be displayed in the arena during the John's upcoming concert in Grand Rapids.
