KCAD to Showcase 2018 Graduates and Student Work with Annual Exhibitions, Commencement
Each year at Kendall College of Art and Design of Ferris State University (KCAD) gives rise to powerful creative expressions from students who will go on to be drivers of cultural and social change, advocates for the arts and education, industry influencers, problem solvers, and so much more, and 2018 is no different.
As KCAD celebrates its 90th anniversary, the college is again proud to place its students center-stage with three concurrent exhibitions that will kick off simultaneously with a joint opening reception on Tuesday, May 1 from 4:00-7:00 pm. Both the reception and the exhibitions are free and open to the public.
The Annual Student Exhibition, running May 1-5, will transform the entire KCAD campus into a massive gallery. Students from each of the college’s undergraduate and graduate degree programs will showcase their best work throughout all floors of both the 17 Fountain St. NW building and the Woodbridge N. Ferris Building at 17 Pearl St. NW.
The Excellence Awards Exhibition, running May 1-16, will spotlight the 17 graduating seniors who exhibit a rare level of mastery and accomplishment within their chosen field of study. In earning Excellence Awards, these students have reached the pinnacle of KCAD undergraduate achievement.
The Masters Thesis Exhibition, also running May 1-16, will feature the fully-developed work of those students who have completed their graduate studies. These students have spent their time at KCAD broadening both their technical abilities and their understanding of their respective disciplines, and this exhibition offers a rare glimpse into the process, methodology, and passion that went into the compilation of their final thesis projects.
Both the Excellence Awards Exhibition and the Masters Thesis Exhibition will be held in The Fed Galleries @ KCAD, located inside KCAD’s Woodbridge N. Ferris Building, 17 Pearl St. NW.
“We’re looking forward to welcoming the West Michigan community onto our campus to discover what makes the KCAD community so special: our students,” said KCAD President Leslie Bellavance. “We can’t wait to celebrate our graduating seniors and to share with everyone the incredible work that all of our students have been creating over the past year.”
