Kendall Welcomes Original Art From The Traveling Exhibition Of Children s Book Illustrators
Posted December 14, 2011
Kendall will welcome the traveling exhibition of original art from members of the New York-based Society of Illustrators in Kendall’s main Gallery from January 9 – February 4, 2012. This is a marvelous opportunity to examine – up close – the work of the best in the field. It is a chance to appreciate the enormous range of creativity in children’s books and to see the printed pages as well as the original paintings, drawings, prints, and collages they represent. To be included in The Original Art, books must be selected by a jury drawn from illustrators, art directors, editors and experts in the field.
This extraordinary collection will be enhanced by an appearance from visiting artist Wendell Minor, a member of the Society. Minor will speak to his audience on January 19 at 11:30 a.m. in the Kendall Gallery on the first floor. Kendall is located at 17 Fountain NW, Grand Rapids, Michigan. All presentations from visiting artists are open to the public and free of charge.
In addition to the exhibition in the Kendall Gallery, the Student Gallery will feature an exhibition of Kendall’s student illustrators from January 9 – January 16. Also, an Illustration Career Day is in the early planning stages for a date in March, and it will feature guest illustrator, C. F. Payne as the speaker.
