For illustrator Logan Matthews, friendship and perseverance are fuel for creative problem solving, and they’re also the inspiration behind his first foray into children’s books.

This past September, the Kendall College of Art and Design of Ferris State University (KCAD) alumnus (’16, BFA Illustration, Digital Media) published “Little Astro and the Mysterious Moon Rock” through Crimson Dragon Publishing, creating the illustrations himself and writing the story with co-author Dawn Clark.

The book is the first of a planned series, and pairs Matthews’ charming illustrative style with a quirky tale about a lost robot’s journey back home. The story helps young readers understand the value of teamwork and determination in the face of conflict.
