News Bites: Digital Media Professor to be Featured at Electricomic Symposium in the UK
Digital Media Program Chair Brad Yarhouse has been invited to the United Kingdom to present at The Comic Electric: A Digital Comics Symposium.
The symposium is the brainchild of Electricomics, a self-publishing platform for new and experimental digital comics that is driven by some of the brightest minds in the world of comics, including Alan Moore, creator of the popular graphic novels Watchmen and V for Vendetta, and Peter Coogan, a TV, film, and web producer who worked for many years with the Jim Henson Company.
Held at the University of Hertfordshire, the symposium will converge scholars and creative professionals who are interested in furthering scholarship pertaining to comics and digital media. The Electricomics team will present the findings of a recently conducted research project, while invited participants will also be presenting on a wide variety of topics across the spectrum of comics and digital media.
Yarhouse will be presenting a paper entitled “Comic Media in New Mediums: Dancing on the Head of Closure” in which he explores the possibilities that continue to emerge as comics enter the digital realm.
The Comic Electric: A Digital Comics Symposium will be held on Wednesday, October 14, 2015. Click here for more information.
