News Bites: IIDA student chapter helps Detroit Red Wings fight childhood hunger at Kids’ Food Basket
For the past few years, the KCAD student chapter of the International Interior Design Association (IIDA) has helped fight childhood hunger in West Michigan by volunteering at Kids' Food Basket once a month.
But last week, the students got a surprise when they found out that they’d be joined in their efforts by some special visitors: members of the Detroit Red Wings, many of whom played much of last season on the Grand Rapids Griffins, Detroit's American Hockey League affiliate. The players stopped by Kids' Food Basket to help out on their way up to Traverse City for the start of this season’s training camp.

Interior Design students and hockey players may seem like a bit of an odd pairing, but that didn’t stop this collaborative effort to pack sack lunches that go directly to children in our community who are in need.
