The exhibition features work by artists from Michigan, Wisconsin, and Minnesota who live north of the 45th parallel, the latitude line that divides the northern hemisphere in half and runs directly through the middle of the mitten state.

As juror, Bosak had to whittle a large pool of open call entries down to a group of 52 artists with the end goal of creating an exhibition that gave just representation to the diversity of artistic talent in this region of the country. She has worked for the past ten years as both an independent and an institutional curator, and currently manages all programming for The Fed Galleries @ KCAD. Apart from her curatorial work, Bosak, who is also a KCAD alumna (’04, Sculpture and Functional Art) also continues to pursue her own fine art practice. She is currently represented by LaFontsee Galleries in Grand Rapids, Mich.

“North of the 45th” kicked off with an opening reception on June 3rd that included live music, refreshments, and juror’s remarks from Bosak.
