News Bites: KCAD Student Designs Shine at Fashion on the Shore

Posted May 28, 2014 in Fashion Studies, News Bites

Fashion Studies students Joanna Bronicki, Ellie Perry, Emily Prchlik, and Accel Monroe Paramour recently joined student designers from across Michigan, Indiana, and Chicago at Fashion on the Shore, a runway event in St. Joseph, MI showcasing top student design work from the Lake Michigan area.

Now in its third year, Fashion on the Shore supplies models and hair and makeup styling while the student designers bring up to five of their best original garments. A panel of five judges, all artists or designers themselves, review the designs before the show and convene afterwards to determine the winners.

With over 20 student designers participating, Bronicki took home the Honorable Mention award for her amazing designs composed entirely of recycled materials. One dress was made from black garbage bags while a few others utilized coffee filters, but you’d never know that from looking at the models elegantly strutting the garments down the runway.
