“I am honored that this painting's final destination is as part of the Kalamazoo Institute of Art's collection,” says Purdy. “I hope that it both educates and entertains patrons for many years.”

The piece, which is part of Purdy’s “It’s A Fact” series, also won a Juror’s Recognition Award in the West Michigan Regional Art Competition in Lowell and took home an Honorable Mention in the 87th Regional Exhibition All-Michigan Edition in Muskegon last year.

Purdy was also recently granted tenure at Kalamazoo Valley Community College, where she teaches 2-D Art.
