Surrounded by the Rocky Mountains, Painting Alum Discovers World of Opportunity, Inspiration
After moving to Colorado four years ago, Kendall College of Art and Design of Ferris State University alumnus Michael Clark (’06, BFA Painting) finally found the perfect environment to create in.
Surrounded by the majesty of the Rocky Mountains, Clark’s naturally-focused artistic practice has flourished, with no shortage of beautiful natural scenes to capture of canvas. He’s also been busy tapping into the vibrant arts community of his current hometown of Estes Park.
Recently, Clark organized a “paint out” that challenged artists from around the country to create works of art reflecting the natural splendor of the Este Park and Rocky Mountain National Park areas. Artists started the day with a networking session as Clark’s studio before heading outside to create their plein air (open air) works. Afterwards, they gathered at a local emerging gallery to continue getting to know one another.
