Erica Lang (’14, BFA Printmaking) was featured in a Q&A with West Michigan arts and entertainment magazine REVUE that explores how she’s driving an inclusive creative community in Grand Rapids by using her entrepreneurial endeavors—the boutique Woosah and the outdoor coffee shop Outside Coffee—as platforms for collaboration, conversation, and connection. Digital Media student John Girkin won the 2018 Creative Outlook Cover Contest, held by Creative Outlook magazine, with his piece “Woodwork.” Girkin’s winning piece was featured on the cover of the recently released 2018 issue of the annual publication. BiLan Liao (’08, MFA) made a TV appearance to promote her new book, “Diary of the Dragon’s Daughter.” The book presents Liao’s artwork as a conduit for both Chinese history in general and the artist’s own personal history, from the hardships her family faced living in Mao’s New China to her revitalizing yet intimidating transition to life as student and artist in America. KCAD's Master of Architecture () program is now accredited by the National Architectural Accrediting Board (NAAB), having been granted Initial Accreditation at the January 2019 NAAB Board meeting. Cory Peeke (’91, BFA Fine Arts) held a solo exhibition, On the Tip of My Tongue, at the Pendleton Center for the Arts in Pendleton, Ore. that showcased his ephemeral collage work. Peeke also invited a small group of other collage artists to show alongside him. Painting Professor Jay Constantine held a solo exhibition, “Anti-Icons,” at the Mott Community College Fine Arts Gallery in Flint, Mich. In conjunction with the exhibition, Constantine also gave a presentation on his featured paintings, which examine the historical conflict between science and religion and confront the uncomfortable realities such conflict has created. Michael Nashef (’06, BFA Metals and Jewelry Design) was featured on an episode of the podcast Perceived Value in a segment exploring the benefits of attending symposiums and national conferences held by professional organizations. Nashef has been invited to present at the 2019 Society of North American Goldsmiths (SNAG) Annual Conference in Chicago this May.
