Urban Institute for Contemporary Arts (UICA) presents CAMPUS, a dynamic exhibition featuring the work of artists and designers who work as part of the expansive Ferris State University (FSU), Kendall College of Art and Design of Ferris State University (KCAD), and UICA campus. The public is invited to attend the free exhibition opening reception on March 1, 2018 at UICA to get a first look at the galleries and meet the artists who will be on-site that evening.
CAMPUS showcases the work of dozens of faculty and staff whose artwork falls within a wide range of visual disciplines spanning all genres and media. The exhibition, which is an annual FSU tradition, will be on view at UICA for the first time since its inception in 2001.
“CAMPUS highlights art, design, and creative work produced by faculty and staff whose foundation and teaching is grounded in an art-making practice,” shared UICA Executive Director Miranda Krajniak. “It’s essential for students to have an opportunity to see contemporary works created by those who work as part of our University network and who lay the groundwork for their success and future professional endeavors. We also believe that it’s important that our community recognizes the accomplishments of our University network, and the contributions and talents of the heart of UICA’s extended campus–our dedicated faculty and staff."

Works by KCAD alumnus Bohan Li ('17, MFA) will be exhibited alongside, and will open in tandem with, CAMPUS. Bohan Li is the 2018 recipient of the UICA Fresh Pick solo exhibition award which recognizes an emerging artist of exceptional promise. The Fresh Pick award and subsequent solo exhibition is given annually to one student in the graduating class of KCAD and is selected by UICA’s Exhibitions Curator each year during KCAD’s Annual Student Exhibition.
Both exhibitions will open March 1, 2018 with a celebratory event that is free and open to the public. The one-night event will feature light refreshments and a cash bar as well as an opportunity to meet the artists. Roaming docents will be available throughout the evening offering guided tours of the exhibition.
Krajniak continued, “We’re immensely proud to be hosting our annual faculty and staff exhibition at UICA, and to honor those who impact both our art and design community as well as future generations of practitioners.”
