Everyone deserves to feel comfortable using the bathroom. But for many in our community, when the only available options are gender-specific, it can turn a routine trip to the restroom into a daunting challenge.
That's why, as a college and a community that strives to create inclusive and equitable spaces where everyone feels seen, heard, and supported, KCAD has designated specific restrooms on campus for use by all genders.
Annual Safety and Fire Report (Clery Act)
Kendall College of Art and Design of Ferris State University is committed to campus security and safety and recognizes this as an important issue in postsecondary education. The U.S. Department of Education adopted the Crime Awareness and Campus Security Act of 1990, commonly referred to as the Clery Act (Jeanne Clery Disclosure of Campus Security Policy and Campus Crime Statistics Act), to provide students nationwide with a safe environment in which to learn and keeping students, parents and employees well informed about campus security.
Ferris State University prepares this report to comply with the Jeanne Clery Disclosure of Campus Security Policy and Crime Statistics Act, as amended by the Violence Against Women Reauthorization Act. Included in this report are three (3) years of statistics for certain types of crimes that were reported to have occurred on campus, in or on off-campus buildings or property owned by the University, including but not limited to KCAD and public property within or immediately adjacent to the campus.
*KCAD will make the crime log for the most recent 60-day period open to public inspection during normal business hours. KCAD will make any portion of the log older than 60 days available within two business days of a request for public inspection. Viewing of the crime log will be available to the public at the Security Desk, 17 Fountain St., Grand Rapids, MI 49503.
KCAD is committed to the safety and health of its students, faculty, and staff. To fulfill this commitment, KCAD continually strives to eliminate any existing or foreseeable threats of violence.
At KCAD, campus/workplace violence is defined as any act or threat of physical aggression or the destruction or abuse of property by any individual. Threats may include veiled, conditional, or direct threats in verbal or written form resulting in intimidation, harassment, harm, or endangerment to the safety of another person or to property. Any act or threat of violence will be taken seriously and investigated.
For imminent acts of violence please contact 911 and then the security officer for the building the event is located. For non-emergency concerns, complete the Person of Concern form found here.
For information on reporting violence on campus, refer the Incident Reporting section of this page.
All incidents occurring on the KCAD campus must be reported and have a formal report completed regardless of the severity of the incident.
KCAD faculty and staff who witness an incident, or who are made aware of an incident by another party, need to obtain and complete an incident report form, found here. Reports need to be filed with the Dean of Student Success.
The entire KCAD campus community, including students, employees, and guests, should report violence, criminal incidents, accidents, and other emergencies that occur on campus or on any off-campus building or property using the following procedures:

KCAD has adopted specific procedures for ending discrimination, preventing is recurrence, and seeking to remedy the effects of the discrimination.
KCAD does not tolerate sexual violence in any form. Student and employee dignity policies demand all University community members to act with dignity and treat each other with respect. Sexual violence is a violation of the dignity and respect policies, as well as other policies and criminal law, and the University will pursue disciplinary action and sanctions against all employee and student perpetrators, up to and including termination of employment or dismissal from the University.
